Planning on a change of scenery?
If you're planning on spending some time in Australia, such as a working holiday, we want to hear from you. We've offices in two key locations, Sydney and Melbourne, and they're looking to hear from any UK freelancers to fill bookings.
How can I get involved?
First off, this is not an exchange program. We're only looking to talk to people who have solid plans to travel / work in Australia.
Well I've already booked my flights and applied for my working VISA...
That's great. Send in your CV and portfolio through to us at London@becomemelbourne.com.au and we'll let you know if we've any suitable clients. The fact you've already sent off for your VISA means you're aware of all the eligibility criteria.
How will I get interviewed?
Once you arrive in Sydney or Melbourne we'll set you up with one of our freelance consultants to grab a coffee or meet at the office.
Is there no guarantee you can get me work?
That's right. Due to whatever unforeseen circumstance that could occur we wouldn't put any of our candidates in the position of travelling half way round the world to find out that their booking has been cancelled. As rare as this may be it can happen. This is why we're asking to speak to people who already have committed to travelling and working in Australia where we are not their sole option for work.
What about banks, phone and everything else?
The best thing to do is to book yourself into a hotel (or hostel) for a few days, perhaps a week, before you're due to start. That way you can settle in nicely, visit a few apartments and not commit to anything before you've seen it. You don't need to sort out bank accounts or your TFN (NI equivalent) until you're there.
